Hand drive +

A low cost wheelchair attachment I designed in high school that used 3D printing and hardware store parts to let more people push their own wheelchairs.

Larger Motions = Less Strain

The attachment changes the lean-grab-twist motion of pushing a wheelchair into an upright rowing one that uses naturally stronger muscles. This movement proved to be much easier — or even possible — for the first time for people with arthritis and weak arm strength.

Low Cost Customizability

Optimized for adaptability and the lowest total cost of parts, the Hand Drive+ uses the strengths of 3D printing combined with simple to source hardware store parts for a design replicable for nearly anyone.
